Finally I started. Didn't get Mortimer's other shots too many people at the doctors. Was very confused on how to go after getting on the Cross Island Parkway. Didn't pick up two girl hitchhikers in New Jersey. Was angry at myself for the rest of the day because of that. Had great trouble with the car - Vapor Lock. After running fine for several hours when I stop it won't start again. Have to wait at least 20 minutes before it will start. So frustrated.
Got to Cedar Tree State Park about 7:00 pm. Was light till 8:30 pm. Had lots of time to set up the tent & cook a meal. Met a nice couple (young) camping, Jack and Kathy. They're going to Oregon too.
Cedar Tree was (is) nice. Has open grassy spots near a deep (3 ft) wide river and spots on a wooded hill with rocks all around.
Driving is hard work!
Driving is hard work! I nearly broke my back today. All the bounies (sp?). It's not as fatiguing as sitting in the car though. Volkswagen has a top speed of 80 mph - going down a long hill. Would probably go faster if you let the clutch out. Slows down to 55 going up a hill, speeds up to 75 going down.
Still have to pick up some socks. People on the road are nice.
