Hwy 1, Big Sur, California
Went in and kind of rushed him on the car. Walked around some more. Finally I went back. He was going to have it ready soon. Hooray. Sat in waiting room until it was. Then I got it and went down, did laundry, and shopped.
Went back to camp to find some other people there. They had possessed my camp after I failed to sign up again. I cooked supper and packed up after finding I couldn't (because of the Rangers rules) share with anyone.
I was anxious to get away from S.F. anyway. Took off down 101 feeling fine. I was headed for Big Sur. Was going to skip Yosemite ($4.00 a night) and Kings-Sequoia. Maybe I'll hit them later on. I wanted to get to the beach.
101 was a good road. Did 65 until within about 30 miles of Big Sur. Then there was this sign.
I stopped by the side of the road and slept (very uncomfortably) for the night. It was 12:30 AM.
