Lake Carlos State Park, Minnesota

Woke up to the sound of thunder after restless night. Spent half an hour deciding whether to break camp and move (cause I was tired) or to stay, rest, and sit out the rain. It started to blow in ferocious blasts, 50 mph. We were on a hill, exposed, over a lake. Untenable position.

I started to break camp - among bright lightning and thunder. It started to rain. I just picked everything up and threw it in the car. 50 mile farther on after a wet, hurried, cold miserable drive I broke out with the sun.

Stopped for gas but couldn't get the hood open. Worked on it. Was jammed to the side. Dried car out a little. Got gas and drove on. Wanted to get to Theodore Roosevelt Natl Park, wasn't able to. Had to detour off I94 to 52 local and 152 local. Wasn't bad except for 4 turns. Ended up in the sun in Lake Carlos State Park. Not bad. Mostly open but also some in woods. Was also along a lake.

I just hope it doesn't thunder storm tonight. It's supposed to. I don't think it will be as bad but it will be bad enough. I don't need the rain. I met some girls. I don't think they're interested. Also talked to the local gas station man. Mosquitoes are killing me where I didn't put 6-12. Is cold night.
