Glacier National Park, Montana

Moved from Many Glacier to Avalanche. Going To The Sun Highway had only been opened 2 days before. Drifts there went up to 40 ft high. Was really a sight to see all that snow above you.

Picked up two hikers and took them to the Visitor Center. From there halfway down the valley we were in clouds. Could only see about 20 ft in front of you.

Glacier is really some sight in June. There are lots of flowers out, too. Only the dandelions are similar to home. It's beautiful here.

I don't think I'll get to meet anyone here at Avalanche. Everybody sticks together. They're all young couples. I don't know how to break in on them. Oh well.

It started raining. I finally found out that the tent is still not waterproof. It simply isn't sewn together right. The material sits on the bottom of the tent. Naturally water comes in. I end up having puddles on the floor of the tent. This gets the sleeping bag wet. Because of this I set up the sleeping quarters in the Volkswagen. It's not hard at all. You simply push the passenger seat all the way forward, turn it around, and shove it as far as it will go under the dashboard. This gives me six inches less room than I need to fully stretch out. Not bad. Then I put the cooler on the floor and I have a level platform. I think I should get a good nights rest. We'll see.

It's too early to go to bed yet. It's very cold here right now with the clouds & rain. Must be about 40 degrees. Brrrr. Didn't bring a jacket. One would come in so handy right now.
