I found out this is actually June 17th. Dating will just have to be changed. That's why there will be two June 18's.

Traveled through more mountain country to Rainier. It was a very dry country almost like Teddy Roosevelt N.P. It had trees though. From Glacier all the way to the coast is mountainy. I passed through Rainier because it was cold. The snow alongside the road was 6 - 20 ft deep. Another Glacier.

I didn't want to freeze to death. I had enough of the cold & Seattle wasn't far away so I went all the way to the Coast.

I'm finally here! I made it! I'm so happy.

The ocean is so different. The waves are smaller. There are rock islands out in the ocean - none along shore though. The shore is 200 ft of grayish black sand. It's very flat and level - tides vary about 10 ft.

Then there's a rise of about 20 ft composed of flat rocks and huge logs (you wouldn't believe the trees out here!). Then there's a cliff about 10 ft. Then there are trees.

Up here in camp there are loads of bushes between all the trees. It's actually a swamp. The roads & campsite are raised above it though. There aren't many good tent sites here. They just didn't make the room.

The ocean is really impressive. The clouds seem to have followed me. It was sunny for 1 hr. while I was here. Now, while I'm writing this, it's gotten cloudy. How terrible.

There are loads of girls here. Good. Met a girl named Shirley. She believed in the Bible literally. Talked with her for several hours about that. She also plays the guitar. Has not had a boyfriend yet. She pitied me because I said I had not met God. She's a real nut. Another week she'll be in Ocean City, New Jersey as a waitress. I wonder if I can find out where she'll be. It would be interesting to see how the East changes her.
