Kalaloch Campground, Olympic National Park, WA

I think today will end up the way it began - as a dull, boring day. No mail. I wonder what's taking those people so long. Don't they know I'm camped 20 miles from the rainiest spot in the U.S. of A.? (P.S. It's cloudy again today.) (Also rained a little.)

The two girl friends I made here are nowhere to be seen. I wish Mary or almost any other girl were here with me. Then I don't think there would be so many dull boring days in places like this. We would go to Movie Theaters & places like that rather than sitting in camp.

June 21 (as written) will be remembered by me for a good time I think. Two women moved into a camp a little ways away. They were women, not girls, I thought at once. They didn't have any boyfriends with them, either. As I passed their car I saw a local naval base sticker on it. Ah, two WAVES on vacation I thought.

It rained for a while more. They set up their tent & went into it. Meanwhile I made my supper, ate, and washed the dishes. It stopped raining so I started looking around. I noticed them cooking their supper and they were about to sit down at a wet table & bench. I had the tarp up so I invited them over. They were glad to accept.

They were very interesting, very intelligent, and witty. As we were talking and drinking soup (their supper) Phyllis came by. She was somewhat annoyed. After a while the two girls (Karen & Christy) left and I invited Phyllis into the tent.

She went in but didn't intend to do anything with me. I found out she was ticklish so I tried tickling her. At that point she bolted and ran out of the tent. What a drag. That's just the way it goes here.

Rained that night.
