Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Woke up and went to G.C. Was somewhat like coming home. I didn't need any maps. Went to camp and drove around. Found a nice spot & asked people if they were leaving (they were actually packing up then). Since they were, I registered their site number.

Then I went down to the store and Information Center and bank and amphitheater. Walked for an hour or so. Went back, set up camp. The other people left half a loaf of Bavarian Pumpernickel bread. That was nice. Made breakfast & went to store. Otherwise hung around camp.

As I was washing dishes this bus came up the narrow tree-lined road. There were a million kids in it shouting and screaming. The screeched to a halt beside my Volks and asked where in N.Y. I was from. “Amityville“, I yelled. They were a group of kids on a camping tour of the U.S. of A. They were all from the City or the Island.

They wanted to know where the Group Camping area was. I told them and watched them weave their way around the circle. Then they came right back around! I flagged them down and got on board and directed them to the Group area. Stuck around and watched them unload the bus and try to set up their tents.

I was hysterical watching them. They were completely unorganized. Everyone was running all over the place. I had a really good time talking and watching them. It was nice to meet wild New Yorkers again. Finally they started cooking dinner.

I left, washed my dishes and played the guitar and then went to bed.
